About Ashley Fendley Foundation
Ashley Fendley was a sophomore at Bellaire High School when she suffered a fatal accident while snow skiing with her family during the 1999 Spring Break. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was actively involved in the arts. She valued human kindness, a striving for excellence, and an acceptance of others regardless of race, creed, or religious beliefs. We have created this foundation to continue her legacy and make a positive impact in the community. Join us in making a better tomorrow for those individuals in need.
What We Do
Our organization is dedicated to providing essential services to individuals and families in need, with the goal of creating a lasting, positive impact in the community. We offer college scholarships, support, and opportunities for personal growth, helping people build the skills they need to thrive. As individuals learn and develop, they gain the confidence and knowledge to become stronger citizens, more effective parents, and active contributors to their communities. This cycle of learning and giving back completes a full circle, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and positive change.
Why We Do It
Our organization exists because we believe in the power of compassion, inclusion, and the potential within every individual—values deeply rooted in the life and legacy of Ashley Fendley. Ashley believed in human kindness, the pursuit of excellence, and the importance of embracing and uplifting all people, regardless of their background. Through our programming, we carry forward her vision by offering support, education, and opportunities that empower individuals and strengthen communities. Her legacy lives on in every life we touch, inspiring us to create a more hopeful, equitable, and connected tomorrow.
How It Works
The Foundation operates by providing both educational and community support through targeted funding opportunities. Each March, students are invited to apply for scholarships, and after a careful review process, two recipients are awarded $1,500 scholarships in June to support their educational goals. In addition to student scholarships, the Foundation also offers financial assistance to community-based organizations. These organizations can apply for support throughout the year, enabling them to continue or expand their work in serving others. Through these efforts, the Foundation invests in both individual potential and community growth.
